Hello everyone, welcome to my blog, which is titled "A Travel Blog for a Better Understanding of the Parish of St. Ann on a Sociological Level." I am Shania Wollaston, a second-year student at Northern Caribbean University pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Criminology. This blog is a part of my course grade for the course SOCI301. This course delves into West Indian culture. There is a look at slum life and overcrowding, adolescent pregnancy, juvenile delinquency, drug addiction, alcoholism, the culture of poverty, urbanization, and rural cultural deprivation, which is a core course required to complete my concentration in criminology. Criminology is the study of crime and criminals on a sociological level. This blog is mainly about the parish of St. Ann. As the title suggests, this is not just going to list some key destinations to visit but to discuss the sociological aspects behind these locations. So, in this blog, we are going to take a look at the key cultural sources within the parish of St. Ann, key areas within the parish that have a significance to the cultural heritage, agents of society that are evident in St. Ann, the issues of society in St. Ann, and how St. Ann shapes Jamaica and the Caribbean at large. If you did not know, Marcus Mosiah Garvey, the first national hero of Jamaica, was born in this beloved parish. So, this blog will be an interesting, knowledgeable, educational, and engaging blog for readers to read and gain knowledge about the parish of St. Ann. In this blog, feel free to share and comment on the blog posts that will be posted in due time.

Farewell, and I will catch you in the blog posts to come.

Be safe and take care.
